    We are posting this article to highlight our assertion that government bureaucracy, particularly the Federal bureaucracy, is but one of the clear and present enemies to freedom and justice for all. In our article At My Expense: Congressional Excess describing bureaucrats deriving their power not from the people but from the Federal Register”, the tip of the disaster encountered by Mr. Hahne is expanded to all taxpayers. Are you happy that you can no longer repair your car yourself? What about politicians trying to tax the Internet. Maybe they should consider the simple fact that such a tax would simply drive your Internet purchases to off-shore or foreign sites. Where are their brains? Don’t we need representation by people of truth relying on the validation of confirmed science and unbiased history?


USDA-mandated rabbit disaster plan

Meet Marty the Magician: His rabbit already has to have a license. Now he has to have a written strategy for any bunny peril.

In OZARK, Mo. — This summer, Marty the Magician got a letter from the U.S. government. It began with six ominous words: “Dear Members of Our Regulated Community . . .”.


    Marty Hahne, 54, does magic shows for kids in southern Missouri. For his big finale, he pulls a rabbit out of a hat. Or out of a picnic basket. Or out of a tiny library, if he’s doing his routine about reading being magical. To do that, Hahne has an official U.S. government license. Not for the magic. For the rabbit.

    The Agriculture Department requires it, citing a decades-old law that was intended to regulate zoos and circuses. Today, the USDA also uses it to regulate much smaller “animal exhibitors,” even the humble one-bunny magician.

    That was what the letter was about. The government had a new rule. To keep his rabbit license, Hahne needed to write a rabbit disaster plan. Washington had questions about his rabbit. Again.

    “Fire. Flood. Tornado. Air conditioning going out. Ice storm. Power failures,” Hahne said, listing a few of the calamities for which he needed a plan to save the rabbit.

    Or maybe not. Late Tuesday, after a Washington Post article on Hahne was posted online, the Agriculture Department announced that the disaster-plan rule would be reexamined.

    “Secretary [Tom] Vilsack asked that this be reviewed immediately and common sense be applied,” department spokeswoman Courtney Rowe said in an e-mail message.

    Rowe said that Vilsack had ordered the review “earlier this week.” But it was not announced until 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Just hours before — at 5:50 p.m. — the department had been vigorously defending the rule, with another spokeswoman praising its “flexibility,” saying it was designed to accommodate even a small-time operation such as a magician and a rabbit.

    For Hahne, the saga has provided a lesson in one of Washington’s bad old habits — the tendency to pile new rules on top of old ones, with officials using good intentions and vague laws to expand the reach of the federal bureaucracy.

    In this case, Washington’s reach extended into a place that — as far as the audience knows — does not exist. That would be the hidden “load chamber” inside Marty the Magician’s hat. Where Casey the licensed rabbit waits for his cue.

    “Our country’s broke,” Hahne said. “And yet they have money and time to harass somebody about a rabbit.”

    Hahne is a slight man with the stage persona of an exuberant doofus — he seems continually surprised by his own tricks. He has been doing magic shows full time for 27 years, on cruise ships and on land. That means he has experienced most of the troubles a magician can expect: overexcited kids who wet themselves after he brought them onstage. A shipboard drunk who threw up on his props. A rabbit so mean it growled.

    But he did not expect the U.S. Department of Agriculture. “She said, ‘Show me your license.’ And I said, ‘License for . . .?’ ” Hahne recounted. This was after a 2005 show at a library in Monett, Mo. Among the crowd of parents and kids, there was a woman with a badge. A USDA inspector. “She said, ‘For your rabbit.’ ”

     You can be Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, Independent or Libertarian, and this should hit a nerve. Our country is in real trouble.

     This gentleman is obviously quite smarter than the two senators he sent it to, if indeed it was sent. Even, if it is one of the common eMail spam messages, it should be sent to every member of Congress, because much of it is true. At the least, this is a very articulate letter presumably sent to the two U.S. Senators from Washington State…

Dear Senator:
    Today, as I approach my 79th birthday, I am heart-broken
when I look at my country and my government. I shall only
point out a very few things abysmally wrong which you can
multiply by a thousand fold. From the Senate barbershop
deficit to undeserved retirement benefits, taxpayers support
your self appointed excesses. Only Heaven and a few tight-
lipped actuarial types know what the Senate dining room costs
the taxpayers. So please, enjoy your haircuts and meals on us.

    Last year, the president spent millions on himself and his
family. The vice president also spends millions on himself.
They have had 8 vacations so far this year! And, our House
of Representatives and Senate have become America ‘s
answer to the Saudi royal family. You have become the
“perfumed princes and princesses” of our country.
    In the middle of the night, you voted in the Affordable
Health Care Act, a.k.a. “Obama Care,” a bill which no more
than a handful of Senators or Representatives read more
than several paragraphs, crammed it down our throats, and
then promptly exempted yourselves from it substituting your
own taxpayer-subsidized golden egg healthcare insurance.

    You live exceedingly well, eat and drink as well as the “one
Percenters,” consistently vote yourselves perks and pay raises
while making 3.5 times the average U.S. individual income,
and give up nothing while you (as well as the president and
veep) ask us to sacrifice due to sequestration (for which, of
course, you plan to blame the Republicans, anyway).

    You understand very well the only two rules that drive
you – (1) How to get elected, and (2) How to get re-elected,
and you do this with (a) the aid of an eagerly willing and
partisan press, (b) speeches permeated with a certain
economy of truth, and (c) by buying the votes of the
greedy, the ill-informed and under-educated citizens (and
non-citizens, too, many of whom do vote) who are looking
for a handout rather than a job. Your so-called “safety net”
has become a hammock for the lazy. And, what is it now,
about 49 or 50 million on food stamps – pretty much all
Democrat voters – and all the programs are absolutely rife
with fraud with absolutely no congressional oversight!
    I would offer that you are not entirely to blame. What
changed you is the seductive environment of power in
which you have immersed yourselves. It is the nature of
both houses of Congress which requires you to subordinate
your virtue in order to get anything done until you have
achieved a leadership role. To paraphrase President Reagan,
it appears that the second oldest profession (politics), bears
a remarkably strong resemblance to the oldest.

    As the hirsute first Baron John Emerich Edward Dalberg
Acton (1834 – 1902), English historian and moralist, so
aptly and accurately stated, “Power tends to corrupt, and
absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost
always bad men. ” I’m only guessing that this applies to
the female sex as well. Tell me, is there a more corrupt
entity in this country than Congress?

    While we middle class people continue to struggle, our
government becomes less and less transparent, more and
more bureaucratic, and ever so much more dictatorial,
using Czars and Secretaries to tell us (just to mention a
very few bureaucrats deriving their power not from the
people but from the Federal Register) what kind of light
bulbs we must purchase, how much soda or hamburgers
we can eat, what cars we can drive, gasoline to use, and
what health care we must buy. Countless thousands of
pages of regulations strangle our businesses costing the
consumer more and more every day.

    As I face my final year, or so, with cancer, my president
and my government tell me “You’ll just have to take a pill,”
while you, Senator, your colleagues, the president, and
other exulted government officials and their families will
get the best possible health care on our tax dollars until
you are called home by your Creator while also enjoying a
retirement beyond my wildest dreams, which of course, you
voted for yourselves and we pay for.

    The chances of you reading this letter are practically
zero as your staff will not pass it on, but with a little luck,
a form letter response might be generated by them with an
auto signature applied, hoping we will believe that you, our
senator or representative, have heard us and actually cares.
This letter will, however, go on-line via the Internet where
many others will have the chance to read one person’s
opinion, rightly or wrongly, about this government, its
administration and its senators and representatives.

    I only hope that occasionally you might quietly thank the
taxpayer for all the generous entitlements which you have
voted yourselves, for which, by law, we must pay, unless, of
course, it just goes on the $17 trillion national debt for which
your children and ours, and your grandchildren and ours, ad
infinitum, must eventually try to pick up the tab.

    My final thoughts are that it must take a person who has
either lost his or her soul, or conscience, or both, to seek
re-election and continue to destroy this country I deeply
love and put it so far in debt that we will never pay it off
while your lot improves by the minute, because of your
power. For you, Senator, will never stand up to the rascals
in your House who constantly deceive the American people.
And that, my dear Senator, is how power has corrupted you
and the entire Congress. The only answer to clean up this
cesspool is term limits. This, of course, will kill the goose
that lays your golden eggs. And woe be to him (or her) who
would dare to bring it up.

    Detroit just became the largest municipal government ever to declare bankruptcy in the United States. It wasn’t a surprise – except to the unions who were trying to file last-minute court cases to shut the bankruptcy filing down. Everyone knew there were big problems with the city’s finances, to put it mildly. When the corrupt Democrats who ran Detroit into the ground over the past fifty years were finally swept aside, the emergency managers installed by Governor Rick Snyder asked creditors to take a 90 percent loss on their claims. They weren’t terribly interested in such a deal.

    The media is frantically trying to spin away the effect Democrat Party dogma and one-party corruption had upon Detroit. You’ll hear plenty of news reports about collapsing population – the city lost 25 percent of its residents over the past decade. But those people weren’t abducted by alien flying saucers. You’ll hear a lot about the auto industry’s problems, but those problems were not primarily due to declining sales.

    No, this great city died because its ruling class of politicians and union bosses spent it into oblivion. Absurdly unsustainable pension plans created a towering mountain of unsustainable liability. The city treasury was looted for the benefit of officials and their very special friends, leaving municipal services at a Third World level. Taxes were raised, driving employers away. The auto industry collapsed under the weight of Big Labor’s demands. Those who raised objections were told they were foolish to worry about the city’s debt, because it would always be easy to borrow more money and crank up the tax rates to cover those staggering bills.

     Everyone in Detroit’s power structure spent money like tomorrow would never come. Well, tomorrow is here, and the city is bankrupt. The same philosophy will destroy state governments, and then the federal government, in short order. DETROIT : Coming To Your City Or Town Next?

    For 15 years, from the mid 1970’s to 1990, I worked in Detroit, Michigan. I watched it descend into the abyss of crime, debauchery, gun play, drugs, school truancy, car-jacking, gangs and human depravity. I watched entire city blocks burned out. I watched graffiti explode on buildings, cars, trucks, buses and school yards. Trash everywhere!







     Detroiters walked through it, tossed more into it, and ignored it. Tens of thousands, and then hundreds of thousands today exist on federal welfare, free housing, and food stamps!

    With Aid to Dependent Children, minority women birthed eight to 10, and in one case, one woman birthed 24 children as reported by the Detroit Free Press, all on American taxpayer dollars.








    A new child meant a new car payment, new TV, and whatever mom wanted. I saw Lyndon Baines Johnson’s ‘Great Society’ flourish in Detroit. If you give money for doing nothing, you will get more hands out taking money for doing nothing.

    Mayor Coleman Young, perhaps the most corrupt mayor in America,
outside of Richard Daley in Chicago, rode Detroit down to its knees… He set
the benchmark for cronyism, incompetence, and arrogance. As a black man, he
said, “I am the MFIC.” The IC meant “in charge”. You can figure out the








    Detroit became a majority black city with 67 percent African-Americans. As a United Van Lines truck driver for my summer job from teaching math and science, I loaded hundreds of American families into my van for a new life in another city or state.

    Detroit plummeted from 1.8 million citizens to 912,000 today. At the same time, legal and illegal immigrants converged on the city for the free government handouts, so much so, that Muslims number over 300,000. Mexicans number 400,000 throughout Michigan, but most work in Detroit. As the whites moved out, the Muslims moved in.







    As the crimes became more violent, the whites fled. Finally, unlawful Mexicans moved in at a torrid pace. Detroit suffers so much shoplifting that grocery stores no longer operate in many inner city locations. You could cut the racial tension in the air with a knife! Detroit may be one of our best examples of multiculturalism: pure dislike, and total separation from America.

    Today, you hear Muslim calls to worship over the city like a new American Baghdad with hundreds of Islamic mosques in Michigan, paid for by Saudi Arabian oil money. High school flunk-out rates reached 76 percent last June, according to NBC’s Brian Williams. Classrooms resemble more foreign countries than America .. English? Few speak it! The city features a 50 percent illiteracy rate and growing.







    Unemployment hit 28.9 percent in 2009 as the auto industry vacated the city. In Time Magazine on October 4, 2009, “The Tragedy of Detroit: How a great city fell, and how it can rise again,” I choked on the writer’s description of what happened. “If Detroit had been ravaged by a hurricane, and submerged by a ravenous flood, we’d know a lot more about it,” said Daniel Okrent. “If drought and carelessness had spread brush fires across the city, we’d see it on the evening news every night.” Earthquake, tornadoes, you name it, if natural disaster had devastated the city that was once the living proof of American prosperity, the rest of the country might take notice.







    But Detroit, once our fourth largest city, now 11th and slipping rapidly, has had no such luck. Its disaster has long been a slow unwinding that seemed to remove it  from the rest of the country.

    Even the death rattle that in the past year emanated from its signature industry brought more attention to the auto executives than to the people of the city, who had for so long been victimized by their dreadful decision making.”







    As Coleman Young’s corruption brought the city to its knees, no amount of federal dollars could save the incredible payoffs, kickbacks and illegality permeating his administration. I witnessed the city’s death from the seat of my 18 wheeler tractor trailer because I moved people out of every sector of decaying Detroit.

    “By any quantifiable standard, the city is on life support. Detroit‘s treasury is $300 million short of the funds needed to provide the barest municipal services,” Okrent said. “The school system, which six years ago was compelled by the teachers’ union to reject a philanthropist’s offer of $200 million to build 15 small, independent charter high schools, is in receivership.

     The murder rate is soaring, and 7 out of 10 remain unsolved. Three years after
Katrina devastated New Orleans, unemployment in that city hit a peak of 11%. In
Detroit today, the unemployment rate is 28.9%. That’s worth spelling out: twenty-eight point nine percent.







    At the end of Okrent’s report, and he will write a dozen more about Detroit, he said, “That’s because the story of Detroit is not simply one of a great city’s collapse, it’s also about the erosion of the industries that helped build the country we know today. The ultimate fate of Detroit will reveal much about the
character of America in the 21st century.

    If what was once the most prosperous manufacturing city in the nation has been brought to its knees, what does that say about our recent past? And if it can’t find a way to get up, what does that say about America’s future?







    As you read in my book review of Chris Steiner’s book,”$20 Per Gallon”, the auto industry won’t come back. Immigration will keep pouring more and more uneducated third world immigrants from the Middle East into Detroit, thus creating a beachhead for Islamic hegemony in America. If 50 percent illiteracy continues, we will see more home-grown terrorists spawned out of the Muslim ghettos of Detroit. Illiteracy plus Islam equals walking human bombs.






    You have already seen it in Madrid, Spain; London, England; and Paris, France with train bombings, subway bombings and riots. As their numbers grow, so will their power to enact their barbaric Sharia Law that negates republican forms of government, first amendment rights, and subjugates women to the lowest rungs on the human ladder. We will see more honor killings by upset husbands, fathers and brothers that demand subjugation by their daughters, sisters and wives. Muslims prefer beheadings of women to scare the hell out of any other members of their sect from straying. Multiculturalism: what a perfect method to kill our language, culture, country and way of life.

    James Garfield, our 20th President, at the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1876 said: “Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. The Declaration of Independence, the true ideological preamble to the Constitution, itself warns against the tolerance of injustice. “. . . . [A]ccordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. On July 4, 2010, this Committee for the Constitution published a contemporary version of this charter of freedom. Faced with the attack on America by “enemies, foreign and domestic“, Garfield’s statement is currently exceedingly relevant.
    This 4th of July, 2013, in addition to honoring those who have paid the price for the freedoms most now take fore granted, it is incumbent on Americans loyal to the original intention of the Constitution to accept their individual and collective responsibility for the economic and political disaster confronting our Nation. Confronting and defeating the attack on America, patriots must reject moving beyond reason by ignoring truth and “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”. On Memorial Day 2013, The Committee for the Constitution published the article The Attack On America looking at this war to uphold right and justice. By electing politicians violating their oath of office and voters then failing to hold them accountable for their failure, our citizens are ultimately responsible for the morass and cesspool accompanying the humanist self satisfaction and indulgence President Washington warned of in his Farewell address.     On June 7, 2013 Obama met with China’s President, Xi Jinping in a carefully guarded meeting. Considering Obama’s obvious, yet to be proven, complicity in prior attacks on America, Congress is again faced with its oversight responsibility. With the fact that the U.S. Treasury has been opened to China, our primary economic enemy; that our President would bow to the leader of a foreign monarchy sheltering and supporting the Wahhabi sect which continues to be the primary financier of the terrorists and ideologies slaughtering our innocent citizens; that Obama and his burgeoning Federal bureaucracy has repeatedly circumvented and continues to attack and destroy the Constitutional intention; and that politicians at every level and jurisdiction of government failing in their oath of office continuously expose their willingness to sacrifice all that made America great; the responsibility to protect and defend the Constitution from “enemies, foreign and domestic” assumes more importance now than ever before in our history.
    On July 4, 1863, this year marking the 150th anniversary, Vicksburg surrendered to General Grant, giving the Union Army control of the Mississippi River for the duration of our great Civil War. The day before, the Battle of Gettysburg ended with over 50,000 casualties thus ending the threat of 72,000 Confederate troops just sixty miles away from our Capital. This 4th of July, patriots must once again arise to protect and defend the original intention of the Constitution. Those who would destroy all that those who have sacrificed before us gave to the world must be similarly defeated that we might have freedom and justice for all. Lincoln’s words from November 19, 1863, must again be the mantra of free Americans —  “. . . . [W]e here [ and now must ] highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.” Reclaim the America the Framers intended.

    Obama and his administration have been abject failures at protecting and defending the original intention of the Constitution as directed in the Preamble. From Benghazi to Syria and now in Egypt, he has supported those who at the first opportunity will attack and destroy all that the Framers intended the United States stand for. Somehow Obama and his people in collusion with the liberal media have failed to mention the fact that the warehouse that the two ex-SEALs were defending when killed in the Benghazi attack contained weapons to be delivered to the Syrian opposition. Call it what you may.

    On June 23, Francois Murad, a Franciscan priest, and two of his assistants were beheaded by Jabhat al-Nusra, an al Qaeda affiliate in Syria. The killings took place less than two weeks after members of the Syrian Free Army, the main opposition force in that country’s civil war, massacred dozens of Christians in a village near Deir el-Zour.
    Both atrocities coincided with reports that, after resisting pressure to do so, President Obama had decided to arm Syrian rebels. We’ve said on BreakPoint why this is a bad idea. Sadly, our leaders – both liberals and conservatives – have not gotten the message.


    To understand why this is a bad idea, a short history lesson is in order. Syria, like its neighbors Lebanon and Iraq, was created by French and British diplomats from the remains of the Ottoman Empire. The borders were more influenced by how much diplomats had to drink than by demographic and religious facts on the ground.

    Thus, countries like Syria and Lebanon became condominiums of sorts, containing many different religious and ethnic groups who had little in common and even less desire to share a nation.

    Syria, for instance, is 74 percent Sunni, and 13 percent Shia – most of whom are Alawites, an esoteric sect whom most Sunnis don’t regard as real Muslims. That leaves 10 percent Christian, and 3 percent Druze, a group even more esoteric than the Alawites.

    Then there’s ethnicity. Ten percent of Syrians are non-Arabs: Kurds, Assyrians, Armenians and Turks.

    Since independence, Syria has been held together by  a series of proverbial “strongmen,” nearly all of whom were the products of its military and who were secular in their orientation. The most important of these “strongmen” was Hafez al-Assad, the father of the current president, Bashar al-Assad.

    It was Assad who elevated the minority Alawites to their outsized position of influence. Not coincidentally, it was Assad who declared war on Islamist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood.

    Given Syria’s history, it was almost inevitable that any large-scale uprising against al-Assad would eventually take the form of sectarian conflict, just as occurred in Lebanon and Iraq. The 13 percent cannot rule the 74 percent indefinitely without creating some resentment, especially when many of the 74 percent regard their rulers as heretics.

    Equally inevitable was that Christians, as a relatively small and  unarmed minority, would be targeted.

    Given these facts, American intervention should be, if nothing else, guided by the maxim “First, do no harm.” Arming the side that massacres Christians doesn’t meet that standard.

    Pretending that we can somehow keep Islamist ideology from playing an outsized role in the Syrian opposition is culpable fantasy. Since 1979, Islamism has been just about the only alternative to the rule of strongmen in the Middle East. Even when non-Islamists have taken power, such as in Tunisia and even Iraq, sectarian concerns have dominated the debate.

    This debate leaves little, if any, room for the region’s Christians. Why anyone expects Syria to be different is beyond my comprehension.

    Fortunately, there is still time to tell our leaders that we want no part in Syria’s sectarian conflict. We can urge them to be generous with humanitarian assistance but to refrain from making matters worse. Let’s pray that they get the message this time.

    Anti-government demonstrators in Egypt expressed anger and contempt for the Obama administration as they took to the streets on Sunday to demand the removal of Muslim Brotherhood-backed President Mohamed Morsi.

    Millions of anti-Morsi activists were expected to gather today in historic Tahrir Square, the site of the same demonstrations that brought down former President Hosni Mubarak.

    Violence is expected throughout the day as pro-democracy demonstrators clash with Muslim Brotherhood allies.

    Seven people, including an American, have been killed so far in the clashes and hundreds more have been wounded, according to VOA.

    Pro-Morsi factions were reportedly seen in various pictures from the demonstrations waving black flags typically affiliated with al Qaeda.

    The demonstrators maintain Morsi has become a power-hungry autocrat who is intent on making the Muslim Brotherhood Egypt’s permanent ruling party.

    They also blame the Obama administration and U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson for propping up Morsi and facilitating the Muslim Brotherhood’s power grab.

    “We are very critical of the Obama administration because they have been supporting the Brotherhood like no one has ever supported them,” Shadi Al Ghazali Harb, a 24-year-old member of Egypt’s Revolutionary Youth Coalition, told the Washington Free Beacon on Friday afternoon during a telephone interview from Cairo.

    The White House is “the main supporter of the Brotherhood,” he said. “If it wasn’t for the American support this president would have fallen months ago.”

    Al Ghazali Harb specifically dubbed Patterson “the first enemy of the revolution,” claiming “she is hated even more than Morsi.”

    Activists hung pictures of Patterson with a red “X” drawn across her face at Egypt’s Defense Ministry during smaller protests Friday afternoon.

    “She’s done a lot to harm our relations with the United States,” Al Ghazali Harb said.

    Pro-democracy activists such as Al Ghazali Harb said the June 30 demonstrations have even attracted the support of those who originally voted for Morsi in Egypt’s elections.

    “We’re treating the Brotherhood as an occupation,” he said, noting that nearly 20 million Egyptians have signed onto an anti-Morsi petition. “Our whole country is at stake.”

    “If you’re here in Egypt and sense the public opinion more are against the Brotherhood than has ever been,” he said, explaining that the current demonstrations are stronger than the ones that brought down Mubarak.

“    We’ve crossed the point of no return,” Al Ghazali Harb said. “This regime cannot stay in power.”

    Western experts said the Obama administration’s efforts to normalize relations with Morsi’s government and provide it billion of dollars in military aid have irritated the pro-democracy activists.

    “The administration believed that it could influence the Brotherhood to act democratically through friendly ‘engagement,’ and this meant not criticizing the Brotherhood too publicly or harshly when it began acting autocratically, including when Brotherhood cadres violently attacked opposition protesters in December,” Eric Trager, an Egypt expert at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, told the Free Beacon.

    “The opposition thus concluded that the administration was totally supportive of the Brotherhood’s behavior — which it wasn’t,” Trager said. “Ultimately, the administration failed to manage perceptions.”

    Mohamad Fouad, a former Egyptian parliamentary candidate and political commentator, predicted that the Obama administration would stand by the Muslim Brotherhood during the protests.

    “The direction that the administration will take will be the same direction” as in the past, Fouad told the Free Beacon. “They have no option but to support the legitimacy of the people who came in” through the elections.

    “It’s a watch-and-wait situation with the administration,” Fouad said, predicting that team Obama will only comment if mass violence breaks out.

    The policy is “sit and wait and hope things don’t turn ugly,” he said.

    Isolated incidents of violence erupted at some of the protests leading up to June 30.

    Even more bloodshed is expected today.

    Leading religious leaders and clerics warned on Friday that a “civil war” is brewing, according to Reuters.

    One protestor was shot to death while marching on Friday, while a Muslim Brotherhood official suffered the same fate during a separate incident, according to Reuters.

    “This knack for violence is really starting to fill the space,” Fouad warned on Friday afternoon. “For this [effort] to gain momentum there must be something major and this usually results in bloodshed.”

    “My strongest worry,” Fouad said, “is that toppling a president by virtue of bloodshed … is very messy, and putting an alternative in his place is something else. This next step is what no one is looking at.”

    Fouad predicted that if Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood survives these protests they will likely “survive anything.”

    The Muslim Brotherhood continues to defend itself as the legitimately elected representative of the Egyptian people even as it comes under fire from protesters and activists.

    “We in the Muslim Brotherhood made an oath to the people that we wouldn’t fall into another military dictatorship,” Brotherhood media spokesman Gehad El-Haddad told the Free Beacon. “We can’t let that happen again.”

    El-Haddad blamed the demonstrators and those still loyal to Mubarak for stoking violence on the streets.

    “The anti-Morsi camp are providing a political endorsement to the violence,” he said. “Some have resorted to violence because they didn’t do well at the ballot box.”

    The only legitimate way for Morsi to leave the presidency is for him to step down or be voted out by the Egyptian parliament, el-Haddad said.

    “Both of these [steps] are from the democratic process but the anti-Morsi camp wants to bring down the regime by force,” he said.

    El-Haddad also urged the international community and the Untied States to support Morsi.

    “What happens in one country effects everyone around it,” he said, referring to the ongoing civil strife in Syria and other Middle Eastern nations.

    “Regardless of the players in [any democracy] we have to uphold it in every nation around the earth,” he said. “We have to set the record straight that democracy is the only solution.”
